Museum education

The aim of the museum's education work is to support and promote ways of learning, doing and experiencing with photography. Guided tours, workshops, meetings with artists and lectures attract people of all ages to learn more about the past and present of photography.

SIZE OF GROUP

The maximum group size is 25 persons. For kindergarten and primary school groups, a maximum of 15 children is recommended for a good learning environment. It is advisable that more than one adult accompanies groups of small children.

WORKSHOPS

A workshop is a more active way of approaching the exhibitions at the Finnish Museum of Photography. The basic idea of workshops is learning by doing. This can involve both personal artistic activity, and thinking about and resolving questions in groups.

A workshop leader can be a member of the Museum staff, a teacher running the workshop for his/her own class, an artist or, for instance, a student of photography. Workshops can be held in a classroom, in the exhibition spaces, outdoors or in the Museum's own workshop.
