RESEARCH

As a national specialist museum, the Finnish museum of photography conducts research on photography. The goal is to create good source material on Finnish photography for various uses. Extensive text and image databases have been created, e.g. of photographers biographies and of the main parts of the museum´s collections.

The Finnish Museum of Photography coordinates and supports photographic research projects. Topics of current research include the internationalization of Finnish photography, press photography and tourism images.

The Börje and Dagmar Söderholm Fund annually awards scholarships for research on the history and theory of photography.
