Street Photo Walk on June 10th

Street photography - what is it? And what makes a good street photograph?

Street photography is an integral part of the history of photography and is still eagerly practiced today by both professionals and hobbyists alike. During the Street Photo Walk, participants will be guided through the Helsinki city centre by street photographer Kasperi Kropsu, revealing secrets, tips and tricks of street photography. Kasperi Kropsu will discuss his photographic process, favourite places and routes and give advice on subjects, angles and juxtapositions. Participants will use their own devices (camera or phone) to take photographs, learn new ways of looking at familiar scenes and get inspired by their surroundings.

Kasperi Kropsu, originally from Oulu, lives in Helsinki and is a skateboarder and photographer.

“I found photography as a hobby after injuring my ankle while skateboarding in spring 2018 and have taken my camera everywhere with me ever since. I guess you could say it was a blessing in disguise. Soon after the accident, I came across street photography while browsing through Instagram, and after dabbling in it for a short while I was hooked. I searched the streets for timelessness in the mundane day-to-day life surrounding us. Colors, figures and reflections are the most important components in my photographs. Street photography brings great joy and fulfilment in my life and has taught me to look at the world with fresh eyes.”
