Culture kids - autumn 2025

Valtteri Heinonen, Suomen valokuvataiteen museo.

Come and experience the red light and magical atmosphere of the darkroom with your child!

Working in a darkroom (photo lab)  usually takes hours, but now we can experience everything together more quickly and playfully. Enlargers, trays, tongs, loupes, light tables, red lights, and the sound of running water—you'll get to experience it all. We'll be working with coffee (we don't use chemicals), and some of the work will be done under familiar, ordinary artificial light. Please use the bathroom in the museum lobby or elsewhere in the Cable Factory before the workshop. Only a potty is available in the darkroom. The entrance to the Finnish Museum of Photography is from the Glass Courtyard of the Cable Factory.

  • Remember to sign in at the information point, where you will receive a QR code that opens the gate to the museum lobby. The QR code for Culture Kids does not work for the gate.

  • Any strollers can be left next to the information point in the Glass Courtyard.

  • Please arrive on time, at least 5-10 minutes before the workshop starts. The museum lobby has restrooms (the potty can be found in the accessible toilet), coat racks, and lockers for secure storage.

  • The instructor will pick up all participants of the Darkroom Larp workshop from the museum lobby, from where they will go together to the darkroom on floor 0.

The Finnish Museum of Photography's Culturekids workshops take place from October to December.
