Pinhole Camera Course / Neulanreikäkamerakurssi

Neulanreikäkuva, Adrian Crowley, 2022

Opi yksi maailman vanhimmista tavoista ottaa valokuva!

Museon uudessa pimiössä järjestetään toukokuussa kahden tunnin neulanreikäkamerakursseja koululaisille ja aikuisille. Aiempaa kokemusta pimiötyöskentelystä ei tarvita. Kurssien opettajana toimii Adrian Crawley ja opetuksen kieli on englanti.

Learn one of the oldest photographic methods!

During this one-day course, you will be introduced to pinhole photography. A form of photography, camera obscura, that dates back thousands of years. This course will not only introduce you to the basics of photography but will help you explore shooting in a completely new fashion compared to today’s photographic tools as well as introduce you to the fundamentals of working in a darkroom.

During this pinhole camera course you will engage in the following topics:

  • The fundamentals of pinhole photography, camera obscura.
  • How to shoot with, and engage with such a camera.
  • Darkroom etiquette
  • How to develop photographic paper in a darkroom.

About the teacher:

Adrian Crowleyn muotokuva.

The teacher of this course, Adrian Crawley, is a photography teacher from Reykjavík. Adrian graduated with a Masters in Fine Art from Sheffield before moving to Reykjavík to spend more time surrounded by worse weather and taller mountains.

Predominantly engaging with analogue photography, Adrian´s work relishes in its tactile nature. Fashioning his own cameras out of wooden contraptions to create unique pinhole imagery. Given the subject of a lot of his work being that of natural wilderness, the slower more meditative side to pinhole photography draws out a fascinating connection between photographer, subject, and use of technology.
